Sinners

୨𝑒 ⸝⸝ 🕯️*“Last time I seen my brother. Last time I seen the sun. And just for a few hours, we was free.” ⭐️. 𓂃 * Being able to catch this on the big screen after missing it during its initial release had me GRINNINGGG from ear to ear. I genuinely shed a tear or two *(more like fifteen, but who counts, right?) * What I love most about Sinners is the lightning, or rather, the sun, which often times feels like a character of its own, rather than a simple source of illumination. It never simply only shines; it exists alongside the narrative. In the beginning it bathes everything in this cold but still warm and expansive glow, the day is innocent, meant to be freeing and full of live. But as the story begins its descent, the sun follows suit: slowly and unnoticeable dimming, withdrawing inch by inch. It hides the eyes of those who have turned, splitting faces in two, so that light and darkness coexist on the very same skin. And yet, when it comes to Sammie, it pours itself over him or retracts almost fully in crucial moments.  This shift from bright, blinding sunlight to a dark orange and the occasional flash of red, mirrors the unraveling story line with such a steep precision. The warmth of the day turns heavy. Red eyes start to glow, only the juke joint gives off light like a lantern waiting to be swarmed by moths. The rest is veiled in darkness. “See, white folks, they like the blues just fine. They just don't like the people who make it.” If I could give a movie six stars, I’d gladly be at least tenth in line, to give them to this masterpiece of a film. I truly do not have a single negative thing to say. Every actor embodies their role flawlessly (I’m actually already emotionally preparing to break down like a baby when a certain someone wins over Michael B. Jordan).  Sinners deserves *every award it’s been nominated for. And if I hear ONE more person say this film “wasn’t that deep”, I might *just gonna find out where they live.  ⤹ ⭑ : maxx core ୨୧ 🎠₊˚๑ Oscars 2026 ✶⋆ 🐈‍⬛ .˚
