Dune
Been holding out rewatching this for as long as possible but finally broke down. Somehow, it’s even better than I remembered.
I recently started reading the books so that I could have a deeper appreciation for how Villeneuve was adapting the story, and knowing the intricacies behind every scene, every character motivation elevated my experience even further. And for everyone who complains that it moves too slow, I was stunned in this watch by feeling the exact opposite. This thing FLIES and I never feel a dull moment.
The only critique I could give as far as an adaptation goes is that Thufir Hawat has a much larger role in the novel, and as soon as we see him in the film, we WANT more of him. I can only hope they’ve saved those scenes for part 2.
A miracle of a movie and one of the most gorgeous ever made. God I love Dune.
