WandaVision
I’m going to pretend that this is one ~5 hour movie for the sake of this review. Really good for the most part! The sitcom parodies are fantastic and the slow burn reveal of the mystery surrounding these circumstances is so satisfying to watch.
Unfortunately, it does suffer from a classic problem of a very disappointing third act. Once we finally get the reveals, they’re pretty much what you expect, and the villain behind it all is so poorly depicted, it almost tanks the entire thing.
That said, there’s still enough good, even in the conclusion, that the whole experience is still pretty positive. I genuinely can’t believe we got this much Vision content, one of my favorite comic book characters of all time, and finally a faithful depiction of the Scarlet Witch! Elizabeth Olsen is outstanding in this.
I don’t really want to get into too much spoiler territory, but I think the biggest issue with this is the villain’s, uh, “final form”. It’s SO Disney Chanel, it’s honestly hard to watch. Wanda spends the entire third act in her sweatpants, and I think this show would be a full half star better if the villain did the same. However, the secret secondary villain had such a good resolution with the Vision, it may actually one of my favorite moments in the MCU.
Okay done pretending this is a movie. Can’t wait to see what Marvel does with these shows in the future. I’m officially hooked, even if there are some more growing pains to get through.
