Vertigo
Im glad I decided to finally revisited this phenomenal piece of art and cinema. Alfred Hitchcock will always be one of the best to ever do it in my book. He just had so many countless masterpieces within his vast filmography (let’s ignore the 1920s stuff…).
Might be Hitchcock’s best looking movie, but apart from the stunning colour palette and the beautiful cinematography this movie possesses, what really strikes me is Jimmy Stewart’s performance here. Possibly his best ever? The way he portrays a man who spirals into more desperate measures into finding out the truth is so masterfully depicted. The desperation is heightened by Alfred Hitchcock’s consistent camera work found in many of his films.
Finally, I understand that some people find this movie a little slow. Primarily in the first half, but for me it’s perfect and adds a strong buildup to what is to come after the foundations are set. What a film.
