Aftersun
I loved Aftersun and it’s hard to say why because nothing happens, like nothing at all. But at the same time I had absolutely no problems with what I saw. On top of me having no problems I cared so much about the father daughter relationship Charlotte Wells presented us.
This film also has a sequence of scenes that keeps building up as the film progresses and I was for sure invested to know what was going on. But even with the reveal at the end I still don’t exactly know what was happening but I’m okay with that. It was incredibly thought provoking and I sat there for a good minute processing what I had just watched.
Overall probably the most “A24” film I have ever seen, it is very artsy and an incredibly slow burn but I loved it for that, it felt real.
2024 edit: jeez i was a fucking idiot, what does this ^ even mean 😭
UPDATE: Just talked to my mom and dad about Aftersun and I cried for 10 minutes. 👍
