Platoon
This film here Is my all time favorite war film, and I decided to revisit it after the parody from Tropic Thunder (2008) of Sgt. Elias's famous scene. Willem Dafoe's performance as Sgt. Elias was excellent. Oliver Stone wrote and directed this masterpiece, being the first Vietnam veteran to direct a film about the Vietnam war, who even has a little cameo in the climactic battle scene. This was such a great film about the morality of war, with the two lead Sergeant's Elias and Barnes, representing different sides of the debate over US conduct in Vietnam; with Barnes being the guy that shoots first and never asks questions and Elias being the guy that isn't trigger happy and shoots at whatever he wants. Overall, very depressing film to watch on a Saturday Night
