last sunday, paul thomas anderson won his first ever academy award for one battle after another; best picture, direction & screenplay. all these things he was responsible for, and i couldn’t help myself from rewatching what his best directional work on film is, by my own opinion of him carefully crafted, and stunningly beautiful. the intimacy of reynolds & alma is unlike anything else, their complicity to make things happen and keep time going
