Carol

I named my Christmas tree after this movie before I even saw it, so yeah, I had high expectations. Overly subtle and underwhelming, Carol delivers amazingly steady performances all around and some great cinematography, but the scripts never really matches the potential power of the subject matter. I loved the way it opened, how we participated in these peoples' lives, but it never really reaches a climax or any particular emotional punch. There was never a moment where I wasn't involved, but I was hoping to be more invested. It's a great movie, it's just not everything I thought it would be.
