Sinners
Such a genre-defying masterpiece with a visually rich cinematic experience. The fusion of horror with rich cultural themes made this film so special. **
**The mid-credit scene had such an emotional toll on me. Haven’t seen such credits smoothly done in film in so long. The cinematography was on point, color grading was to perfection and the subtle subtexts in this film adds layers of emotional depth. The pacing was good and in the first part of the film, we get to understand the characters well, engaging with them and getting to know more about them, their relationship dynamic made the latter part of the story very interesting.
Ok Now on to Ryan Coogler- must be one of the most sought-after director in Hollywood currently. His ability to blend genre with social commentary is second to none and honestly I’ve been a fan since Fruitvale station. That one sequence where Sammy is playing the guitar and connects to the spiritual world and see all eras of music and dance collide really just blew my mind
Definitely among my favorite films of all time. I’d have to rewatch a couple of times to fully immerse myself into that experience
