Vertigo
A powerful and gripping tale of obsession and toxic relationships... you know, the ones where one person wants you to be someone you aren't? I noticed more connections to classic hardboiled noirs like The Maltese Falcon and The Big Sleep than compared to the rest of Hitchcock's oeuvre. Kim Novak is absolutely amazing, one of the best faux femme fatales I've seen. Bernard Hermann's score... what the hell... it's absolutely perfect, so sublime, haunting, and repetitive... exactly what it needed. Also, every other wide shot are some of the best ever made. Editing felt a bit choppy and too fast paced, and it took me out of the story. Otherwise, what a picture!
