WALL·E

astonished that THIS movie got added to the criterion, but it makes so much sense. both a terrifyingly poignant critique and warning of capitalism and a heartwarming rom-com space opera. wall-e is by far pixar's most earnest and sweetest protagonist, echoing the aura of the tramp and buster keaton (especially with the parallels to the protest gag in Modern Times) I easily cried at this film 3 times. if i cry at a film once in it's runtime, i consider that an achievement. but 3? perfect.
