Spider-Man 2
Gosh, there's so many fundamental things this movie nails to the fucking core that many blockbusters, even some good ones, just plainly forget about. You see, it's not just some crazily good action sequences, layered by a heavenly soundtrack. It's not mere pyrotechnics, be it well done or distracting. It's not just Spider-Man stopping a train with nothing but his webs and brawl. That's not what makes Spider-Man amazing. It's the small things that fucking matter. It's his ever-caring aunt making his nephew rediscover why he became a hero in the first place, it's a dorky girl offering a piece of cake to a confused young adult, it's some random citizens swearing to this same youngster they'll keep his secret identity, it's a runaway bride deciding to take the risk of being with the love of her life. It is way more psychological compared to the campier first movie, but that doesn't mean "lifeless" at all. This movie's heart is beating out loud. Those small things are what brings Spider-Man 2 to life, what makes all the big action scenes actually fucking mean something. Damn, I was nearly teary-eyed by the end. This is truly amazing
