Miami Vice
Wow, I watched it a couple months ago and thought it was average, yet still kept thinking about it for some odd reason, it just made an impression. And damn, it's like watching a new movie, visually it’s great and very good looking, the style is great and unique, the soundtrack and theme are great too. I do think the acting at times is over the top, especially Jamie Foxx who is the weakest link. I love the ending, it’s pretty great too. I think after rewatching, the chemistry between the protagonists is more implied and implicit, they have few dialogue, but it’s more a few key moments, plus certain times where they ignore each other. I think the movie's biggest weakness comes from its title, it’s more about vice/crime connected to Miami, not inside Miami, and when looking at it this way makes it much much better. And the scenes both inside and outside Miami look great, but I still wish there was more in Miami. The movie overall is very flawed, but super technical and complex, with some stuff I don’t understand still. There are also a fair amount of slow and a bit boring parts. But, overall a bunch of great moments and the fact it’s just a COOL movie make me really like it. The first hour is much better than the second, the movie immediately puts you in and just go go gos for that first hour, slows a bit, then picks up. Overall could be still a 31/2, but it would feel wrong. Much better than the first time I saw it, maybe because of a lack of expectations and appreciation.
