BEEF
Hello, After maybe a week after I’ve seen this I’ve decided to go back and change my review of it, as I’ve realised this is actually one of the greatest things I’ve watched in recent time, it’s immediately one of my favourite tv shows I’ve ever watched and it even tops a lot of movies I’ve seen.
It’s geniunely nothing short of an absolute masterpiece, Not a single episode in this nearly 5 hour experience is boring every episode is exceptional and exciting in its own way, this show does everything right, it’s incredibly funny ridiculous and vulgar, it’s a tense and super exciting crime thriller, as-well as that it’s incredibly sad and deep as it explores the main characters Amy and Danny’s mental health, depression and suicidal intent, going all the way back to their childhood which made them the way they are today in Episode 8 of the series. With it all culminating in one of the most beautiful and satisfying finales in any piece of media I’ve seen in Episode 10. realising that all along they were just one in the same, struggling to find their place in the world feeling like they were unlovable, and finally finding solace in the fact they’ve found someone who truly gets it. The entire ensemble is great, obviously this is a career best from Ali Wong and Steven Yeun but even down to the side characters such as Paul plus Isaac and his Henchmen, it’s one of the best put together groups of actors of all time in my opinion everyone is perfect casting, it’s so funny to me how a lot of these actors are more well known for their careers in comedy rather than acting, perhaps that’s what adds so much to this show. The aesthetics of it all are beautiful aswell, if you know me you know I’m a sucker for anything set in LA during the summer and also the actual camera shots at times are amazing.
This is one of the best things both Netflix and A24 have ever put out, it’s not for everyone and I understand that but if you can look past some vulgar and fucked up moments and humour you’ll find one of the most tightly made pieces of media of the 2020’s and maybe even 21st century. I don’t ever give TV shows ratings on here but to emphasise how much I loved this show I’m giving it a 10/10
