Sinners
really enjoyed this. i had some minor issues with the pacing at times, and i felt like there were some bits that may have been better left on the cutting room floor, or scenes that could’ve been cut a little shorter, but when i was in i was in. luckily i was in for pretty much all of the movie. really appreciated that ryan coogler was patient enough to give us about an hour of character and world building so that once you’re in the action, you’re invested in the characters. kind of wish that the marketing didn’t spoil the genre twist but i get that they wouldn’t have sold as many tickets otherwise.
there was one scene in the middle that took my breath away and it really doesn’t stop moving from there. gets super intense and plays with the rules of its horror in a really fun way. also the entire cast is amazing, loved michael b jordan in both his roles. my mind maybe isn’t as blown as early reviews suggested it would be but as i continue to think on it i’m just happy that blockbusters are being released which continue to take risks, challenge, and excite us like this movie does.
