Interstellar
**Spectacle.
**
Interstellar in my eyes is best described in one word as being a spectacle. I don’t usually do the long word salad entries anymore because they don’t amount to much, but I have to talk about what I just saw. I personally would say this film is an experience more so than anything else. My first ever IMAX 15/70MM with Interstellar being the film, was the best theater experience I’ve ever had. I can’t believe how all of the talk around this format and seeing films of this magnitude and scale in it, still didn’t scratch the surface to what I just saw. Sure it’s not Nolan’s best overall, it definitely has some moments I still have issues with but no other film by him in my opinion can compete to the experience this gives and where it can take you. One of his only films where you can feel the soul it has in it. It’s transcendent movie magic. I can’t think of a better movie to see in this format besides maybe 2001. Crazy to think I may have just had the best film experience in my life.
On this third watch, it made me wonder how some scenes and aspects rank in relation to Nolan’s other works.
Is this Zimmer’s best score? Would be Nolan’s if Oppenheimer’s didn’t exist.
Is Oppenheimer’s Trinity Test Sequence better than Interstellar’s Docking Sequence?
Overall I’m floored at what I just had the pleasure to see. I’ve never had a film and theater experience give me such a euphoric feeling, even hours after. Hopefully this feeling lasts days.
