After Hours
I don’t really know what it was in this movie that made me enjoy it so much, but it was a fun watch. It really does feel like that sometimes that not a single thing can go your way, but usually it’s an exaggeration. Not for Paul in this movie. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. I also thought New York looked great! Scorsese did a good job of using dark and gritty shots of New York to push the mood of Paul’s failures on that night. Every person that Paul met with the exception of a few was a character and a half. They were all seemingly normal at first, until showing their true colors. I thought it was clever and funny that it would get Paul’s hopes up every time that he could possibly get back home.
Honestly if Paul just said “it be like that sometimes” and moved on I think this movie could’ve been 20 minutes.
