Dune

I have this film logged 12 times and watched this even more, I think it’s time for a proper review. Every watch is better than the ones before, every watch makes me always euphoric and I can still see this film countless times without getting tired of it. There is so much to love in this film. Beautiful massive shot selection, amazing world-building, THE BEST score of all time, great character writing that makes me care for the smallest of characters, and a brilliant display of VFX. I find so much value in this project, not only as a Part One in a colossal universe but as one of the greatest accomplishments in science-fiction filmmaking. It’s absurd that anyone has the resources and the audacity to piece together something of this magnitude. I hope Denis wakes up every morning and understands that he is THE FUCKING GUY! Dune is a culmination of everything within the art of filmmaking that makes my dick hard. A monumental science-fiction outing with unprecedented world-building, backed by a staggering dissection of lore and philosophy. A novel of this complexity could have easily resulted in a convoluted mess on the big screen, but Denis takes his time unpacking everything. This film has several unreal, divine, and magical tracks that drop my jaw on the floor. The Fall, Ornithopter, Ripples in the Sand, Herald of the Change, Gom Jabber, Paul’s Dream, and 👑Leaving Caladan👑. The film has also so many sequences that keep me glued to the screen- The Sardaukar Rally, the Gom Jabbar, the Duke's death, the worm attack on the spice harvester, the Harkonnen invasion, and many many more. There are also a lot of quotes that leave me with no words- “What’s in the box? Pain”, “here I am, here I remain”, “I serve only one master, his name is Shai-Hulud”, “You've proven you can rule yourself. Now you must learn to rule others, something none of your ancestors learned. My father rules an entire planet. He's losing it. He's getting a richer one. He'll lose that one too.”, “What, because I'm a Duke's son? Because you are Jessica's son. You have more than one birthright, boy.” And I can go forever. Dune has a chance to become THE greatest trilogy of all time. Outstanding score, Insane cinematography, and great acting.
