Dune

Although I consider the two parts as one out of the greater story and ultimately one film, I think Part Two has higher highs, but there’s something about Part One that is so magnetic with a dark quality to it. It has such a distinct energy and aesthetics, that makes me appreciate it more and more each day passing. Because it doesn’t need to complete the entire first book, it is full of mystery and wonder which makes it a kinda cozy film for me. Arrakis feels life-threatening but also comfortable somehow. If Part Two is the sun and sand, then Part One is the moon, the tides, and the ocean. I’m biased toward Part Two because of my cinema experience on its release, but still Part One is the one that has introduced me to this mystical world, and the one that led me to eventually read the books. Always will have a huge place in my heart and soul.
