Perfect Blue
It's insane how well paced Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue really is. The amount of plot points he managed to fit into the short runtime without it feeling like a mess, is unbelievable. Simply put, the film is one immaculate scene after another. To be honest it doesn't even feel like a collection of scenes since the editing is so great that you get lost right away and the scenes just start to blend making it hard to comprehend what's real and what's not. On a rewatch, I realized how great the score is and how nice the hints to the plot twist are. There really isn't an animated film quite like Perfect Blue and I could't see this film working as well in a live action format.
