The Fly

Way more human and tragic than a film about a man turning into a fly has any right to be. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t choking up towards the end, which seems ridiculous when you consider what’s happening on paper. Although Cronenberg is better known for making ‘colder’ films, he manages to inject a surprising amount of heart into this, which is a huge testament to him as a filmmaker.  As for any Cronenberg film the practical effects are amazing, but that goes without saying. Chris Walas and Stephen Dupuis were 100% deserving of the Oscar.
