i wish this was not the first watch of the year but unfortunately it is

01 January

rewatch
upon rewatching i had to add it to my top 4. love this movie so much everything about it is perfect. thinking about how despite PTSD not being an official DSM recognized concept until the 80s this is such a fantastic depiction of something that many weren't able to fully articulate yet. which in turn plays in really well with this whole vague and eerie feeling you're wrapped in the whole time. PTSD specific or not, this movie is a great depiction of mental illness as a whole.

there is a wall between yourself and the rest of the world! no one can hear you scream! isolation in the warmest of arms!
02 January

beginning half was slow but the last 50 minutes or so were spot on. i love a lesbian vampire with an amazing wardrobe and some great set design
02 January

kinda slow (though i did zone out for a lot of it) but looove the kills
03 January

rewatch
this was my first sober watch (aka smoked 2 hours before and not during)
04 January

x2

ahhhhh!! i think i hated that but also i really loved it and also omg ???
06 January

a love story about casual intimacy. linklater i love you, you understand me
08 January

okay after watching this the gill man might officially be my 2nd favorite universal monster (still a toss up with the invisible man)
10 January
really awful i truly cannot tell you how much i hate the manic pixie dream girl as an outlet for men to feel like they have purpose when really they're just a self serving asshole. fuck you maybe you don't have purpose and you're just a fucking loser who thinks being into this girl will save you, WELL IT WONT. GO TO THERAPY.
17 January

don't mind me just packing with a roll of fucking quarters
17 January
was about to cancel my mubi subscription when i found this.....fucking beautiful. need more queer bimbo glitter gore in my life
19 January

rewatch x2

i fucking love this movie so much. lloyd has his faults in the way he was written but goddamn but i wouldn't give to be him. the ending is my absolute favorite i could not ask for better

20 January

gay (derogatory and also just a factual statement)
21 January
first movie i saw in theaters since pre-covid....would've been considerably better if the trailers didn't already spoil pretty much everything. very meh but megan is still very slay
22 January
liked how it was stylized to make it feel very intimate and fly on the wall-esk but oh my god i hate men
28 January

i liked it :) we are all going to die if something doesn't change soon :)
29 January

don't know why this is rated so high when this is essentially just any other episode of criminal minds but with a spooky phone.
29 January

OF COURSE ITS ABOUT GRIEF AND FINDING COMMUNITY STFU IF I DID NOT JUST TAKE MY T SHOT ID BE CRYING

02 February

love the little theme song/choirs that plays every time we get close to the aliens
03 February

this was written by a very sad sad man.
04 February

i have the feeling I'm going to need to sit with this one for a bit. initial reactions: a familiar sense of childhood terror that could've made its point in a slightly shorter amount of time. overall I'm a big fan of what it set out to do and i really think it accomplishes it
08 February

no see if that were me i would simply pursue alternate friend groups. mia goth could probably convince me otherwise tho so maybe I'm not special
04 March

rewatch
love a first rewatch of a movie i was instantly obsessed with. even better the second time around.
14 March
was disappointed when i got about half way through and realized no one was really gonna turn into a mermaid
15 March
easily the worst of the series. BRING BACK MARY LOU!!!
19 March

no connection to any of the past movies but doesn't have to: the name is all you need. will also say the vibes created a craving for 00s horror remakes
19 May

better than i thought it would be. also omg hi robbie kay what are you doing here king
20 May

rewatch

it is truly special to rewatch something for the first time since you were 14. worse than i remembered but i am so obsessed
23 May

internet/chain email horror from the 00s is a beautiful thing
26 May
picked at random but i really fell in love with this one! reminded me a lot of house of wax but still had its own really fun unique twist to it!
30 March
rewatch
this is probably one of my most watched movies from my childhood and i have no notes i still love it so much
31 March
rewatch
watched with Bee and Val while testing out the projector in the living room!! <3
01 April

love in mundane spaces strikes again!!! every shot is so pretty and ohmygod i was so giddy

05 April

sometimes you just need the comfort of cheesey b-rated 80s gore
08 April

the ending??? when they clearly had such a good thing going?? fuck off

09 April

okay her chart was def not that wild but i will say, scorpio sun and aries moon? icon
10 April
rewatch
showed to everyone for my birthday party <333
15 April
was crocheting and wish i paid more attention but this is a very good sequel!! beautiful sfx!!
17 April
not as good as the first two but i love a more slasher-esk pinhead <3 give me your little quips bby
18 April
rewatch
every time i rewatch a twilight movie it is worse than i remember but considering my main focus was taylor lautner it was damn good
20 April
a very fun 2000s movie whose politics felt a lot more performative than the "radical" view they try to make it seem like. overall a good time and even though it was a bit messy i loved the trans masc rep + seeing Daniel Sea is always a blessing
26 April

when are they going to leave my dude alone!!
26 April

i don't know why i thought this would be comforting because hey what the fuck not fun for sure on that second to last one
27 April
not amazing not awful and i had a fun time watching overall. love this franchise
28 April
rewatch
was looking for something comforting and this really helped. after my first rewatch of this i can confirm i love it dearly even if claire is awful and i do not understand why teddy is proposing to her
29 April
this movie starts out with a live performance from bowling for soup so you know it's gonna be good. can't believe i never heard of this before i had such a fun time watching!!
30 April
i think whoever was on twitter saying this was such a good movie had their nostalgia blinders on
01 May
"thank you wiccan tumblr"
okay. so. pros are i was very appreciative all of the homage to the og dracula and both nicks were very enjoyable. did not enjoy the focus on a cop awkwafina subplot or the cgi blood. overall feels like it has a lot of promise but is never really able to pull through.
04 May

rewatch x2
bisexuals stay winning I love this trio so much and holy shit James Duval you are everything to me
06 May

---

seeing this in theaters was truly a holy experience. looked so fucking stunning i wanted to cry

25 June

rewatch
my favorite <3 will never get tired of this movie. it is a staple in my life and at this point I think it's apart of me
07 May

STRESSFUL AS FUCK STOP WEAPONIZING HIS TRAUMA AGAINST HIM YOU COWARD!!! made me very grateful for my high school band director who would let me hang out in the practice room and listen to music when I was feeling depressed/anxious
08 May

I really wanted to like this movie more than I did. fine as its own standalone horror movie but I guess I was hoping for a little bit more from an Evil Dead movie? funny and enjoyable at bits throughout but was never really able to suck me in. also am I awful for saying I was expecting more gore??
11 May
can definitely tell where Linklater pulls some inspiration from but this one's gonna be a no from me
12 May
rewatch
was only half paying attention but I think I liked it less upon rewatching it? set design and soundtrack are still some of my absolute favorites. plus james is always a pleasure to see <3
15 May
boy howdy was this timely to watch days after my graduation. so many little things I love about this so much!! winona ryder you are everything to me my 7-11 queen <3
15 May

x2

ahhh!!! i feel so happy and fulfilled and SAD!!!!
17 May

x2

actually fuck you cooper raiff. you are an amazing filmmaker, storyteller, and actor and i hate you for making me feel so many things at once.
omg that 13 going on 30 bit made me giggle so much and girlpool + SOUTHERN SKY by alex g??? god bless 🫡
19 May

-----

upon rewatching i think this might top cha cha real smooth for me?? so fucking good and really captures the essence of freshman year so fucking well. my one critique is i wish copper would've kept that scene in from Madeline & Cooper where he was watching Before Sunrise because i think that little nod is so important to the themes of the movie

14 July

everyone is always so fucking obsessed with my boy frankenstein's monster that they absolutely will not let him catch a break and don't even get me started on how suicidal larry talbot is
27 May

i wanna rewatch the original after this just as a comparison but although it's a very average disney film, this feels like such a good remake

29 May

watching this in the very first row of the theater negatively impacted my viewing experience but this is such a good movie!!!
02 June
this has been on my watchlist for so long and I'm really glad i finally got around to it!! happy pride bitches!!
04 June
something so beautiful to me about this coming out in 2000 <3 yet again another smash hit of gay mid twentysomethings walking around with a camera and living life. lovelovelove
06 June
an affront to pride month. kevin smith i love you but also fuck you. this was on par with Kissing Jessica Stein level disappointment
07 June

rewatch

ella is so incredibly gay for lola it is wild. to me there is something so incredibly not straight about obsessing over a boyband together. also hi megan fox :)
13 June

that sure was a movie!! chris pratt can fuck off
14 June
i would also get in a physical altercation if someone shit talked Yentl
14 June
started watching before i was informed we were going to Goth Night last minute, finished the day after while hungover crocheting a doily. the duality of man
18 June
rewatch
yup, hold up extremely well. made me appreciate Across the Spider-verse even more
18 June
i see the vision... execution is not there. Near Dark meets Itty Bitty Titty Committee
19 June
fun but the reviews hyped it up too much for me. look me in the eyes and tell me this is better than Cabin in the Woods or why we should even compare the two
21 June

rewatch

i could've sworn this came out in mid to late 2010's and you're telling me it came out in 2011????

22 June

if she's the worst person in the world then i fucking suck man. gorgeous cinematography and was impactful enough that i had to pause about a quarter of the way through in order to process some emotions through journaling
23 June
dirty talk to me about how you're scared of me dying and how you'd imagine my funeral baby
23 June
i know i sound stupid when i do straight guy voice but what the fuck was amanda bynes doing?
27 June

have to keep reminding myself Kevin Bacon & Ethan Hawke are different people

27 June

animation: cool. poorly executed allegory for racism: less cool
28 June
everyone shush it's the guy from Return of the Killer Tomatoes!!!
29 June
been putting off watching this for song long because i never wanted to take my first viewing for granted. can say i throughly loved and appreciated this so dearly, I'm so glad this was captured and able to be shared across such a wide audience. things are so different yet so very much the same. happy end of pride month
30 June
rewatch
i haven't rewatched it since the first time i saw it and when i found it on youtube i had to see it through. i remember the first time i saw this it created a core memory when i didn't understand why all my friends were laughing at spork. a lot of shit in this movie is also in incredibly poor taste and i would say overall it's fucking awful. that being said, go spork go!
04 July
not to project but young winona ryder is so trans coded in everything she's in
07 July

rewatch

can't get enough of this shit baBYYY. lovelovelove
07 July

fell asleep a little halfway through that's my bad. really fun movie though, great score, and part of me feels like i should've waited until october to watch this
08 July
i think i want to like wes anderson more than i actually do. good movie nonetheless
10 July
he's just like me fr. adam sandler's best role??? very pretty as well, thank you for that
11 July
soooooo why are we exploring this relationship between an adult and a child? what do we trrruly gain from this? ugh it was technically a good movie but it just really frustrated me because, hey, it actually is super fucking weird you're hanging out with a 15yr old and his friends!!
12 July
every time tom was on screen all i could think about is his beautiful bone structure, my b
13 July
very meh, but watched after everyone left the party with bee <3
15 July
rewatch
my first time seeing since i would watch it with memmie. definitely holds up, this is such a good & cozy road-trip movie
16 July
i cannot watch saw movies like i used to bro!! how and why were my parents letting me watch the first 6 movies ages 12 or 13 like???? this shit is rough!!
18 July

there's for sure a lot more to this that I'm missing and am going to be looking into but eitherway, god it looked so fucking cool
19 July

no offense but this is a symbol that you should let the series die or do a COMPLETE reboot, bc this shit was half assed
20 July
not sure how i feel about this one. does okay as it's own standalone in the saw universe but i guess i was expecting more. did not feel very focused on the traps at all nor did it build up that same kind of suspense from the older ones. not good, not bad, okay at worst
21 July
heath leadger is indeed a pretty boy and it makes sense kat is experiencing her compulsive heterosexuality through him
22 July

There's Something About Mary (she's bisexual)
23 July

uninterested in the beginning but really got into it as i settled in. visually stunning of course + jeff goldblum as the alien was the only right choice for the role
26 July
love a seaside gothic horror. the sound of ghost cries was very spooky & i very much enjoyed the song for stella
26 July
speaking of seaside horrors! i finally got around to watching this. it was good but also i have a teeny tiny attention span. also let me just say it would be not only an honor but a privilege to be treated like a dog by robert pattinson
27 July
this is only my second ninja turtles movie but i have to say these suits are superior to the newer michael bay cgi. also, VANILLA ICE???
28 July
set design and wardrobe alone are a great reason to go see this. all around a super fun time and even though i was never a barbie fan growing up this shit almost made me cry twice. really fun theater experience as well!
29 July
i didn't cry during the barbie movie because i was in public but i did shed a tear during this in the comfort of my own bed
30 July
drew berrymore and steven zahn i <3 u. thank you for reminding me to never ever have children <3
30 July
og was better but this wasn't that bad for a sequel. just didn't feel like it had the same love and attention the first one had
31 July

it's a conversation that does not end and i am so fucking in love with it. a fantastic sequel and beautiful piece of media altogether.
01 August

kiki's delivery service + berry bitty city mentioned!!!
04 Agugust

i too sometimes feel like keeping a bunch of chickens and lighting my bed on fire. also i think i might've been slipped some of that gazpacho bc i am oh so sleepy
08 August

i don't really have anything to say about this other than if i had my crochet stuff with me i would've been able to better pay attention. also bela lugosi slays + i liked the octopus monster
10 August
this needed to have better lighting bc the glare from the sun made it all look so dark
14 August
we were opening muppet lego mini figure blind bags and it created a muppet craving. solid movie but nothing amazing. Tim Curry absolutely crushed it
15 August
I'm sorry to compare it to the lego movie i know it's it's own thing but after seeing said movie omg this is nowhere as good in comparison. kept my attention on the ride home from the beach tho
19 August
can't remember if i've seen this before or not.... either way, not my favorite though very charming at times. animal played the hero and still didn't get enough air time
21 August
rewatch
without a doubt that ending has to go down as one of the best in cinema history.
24 August
so slow paced i fell asleep in the middle. still not sure what was going on there but it was very pretty and had good vibes nonetheless
24 August
could've sworn i've seen this before but i didn't remember enough for it to count as a rewatch. also holy shit that cgi oz?????
25 August

i had low expectations going in but i think it exceeded what i thought, though i would've liked it more during the early 2010s. not my favorite but i liked the score and i think it was well done. btw i called it with the dead cat in the box
25 August

i love alice. this was very zany. i need to go to sleep.
26 August

AHHHHH!!! I am HURTING this was so beautiful oh my god. i am physically pained i loved that so much
27 August

was not expecting this to be a musical but other than that i really enjoyed this! mermaids ARE real and this is what they're like
28 August
watched the remake when i was younger but forgot most of it. this was better though. vampires rule what can i say
29 August
happy BLUE moon. i had no idea where this was going and had a lot of fun following wherever it went!
30 August
rewatch
we really are all in this together huh. i don't know the last time i watched this in full but i can confidently say this was my most cognizant watch in a very long time.
01 September
rewatch
this may not be my favorite out of the three but i feel like it has the best songs out of the three and potentially the objective best??
02 September
rewatch
my personal favorite, i can still remember the day i saw it in theaters and changed me for the better. makes me cry every time
02 September
there's just something about this format that Does Not work for me. very similar to unfriended but slightly better. plus i caught a lot of the same gimmicks that were done in various paranormal activity movies.
03 September
i think i keep really trying to like this series but it just isn't working for me
03 September
"are you aware of garfield?"; loved this a lot! was so emotionally invested i genuinely cried twice?? great sense of post 9/11 horror and great found footage movie!
04 September
it's hard watching this back to back with the og knowing how much better it is but this was still a solid entry.
04 September
faded in and out of this one but overall very meh. just go watch gonjiam haunted asylum or an actual ghost reality tv show
06 September

she wrote that shit when she was 18????? damn. did not show enough of how very cool and goth mary is imo but a good peak into her life nonetheless!
08 September

i love you henenlotter you are the only reason i watched this even though i wish i hadn't
08 September
rewatch
this movie is truly everything to me. emily osment and cody linley???? you're kidding me!! JIGSAW TOO?? iconic. i used to get so scared of this that i couldn't finish it and that is so fun to me now!! this movie fucking rocks!!!
08 September
I'm guessing WNUF Halloween Special took a lot of inspiration from this because it was basically the same thing
12 September
randomly threw this on and it was very good! great cast great story!! Xochitl is an icon!
13 September
okay so i put off watching everything after Seed of Chucky bc i loved that movie so much but this was actually pretty decent. nothing amazing and i wasn't a huge fan of Chucky's design but I had a pretty good time watching
15 September
rewatch
sad drunk cookie and milkshake night with Bee & Val
15 September

should be called 'my girlfriend is a lesbian and I'm a closeted homosexual'. also ralph is a cutie
16 September

this poor girl can't catch a break. the scene with the decomposition pit was absolutely fucking disgusting and i loved it. + fun score as well!
16 September

was not excited when i read the premise but it ended up being better than Curse of Chucky imo. not an original idea in the least but the kills were fun
17 September

kinda very not happy they switched from the ongoing plot line into a completely new one when i was just really getting into the last 2. not jiving with this
18 September
all around a really fun time!!! did not think there would be that much blood nor that they would KILL PEOPLE, it truly was a wild ride. also what better way to experience it than in an empty theater with bee and val!!!
19 September
had no idea this was a jim henson production!! fun watch :)
20 September
got better as it went on but i was generally pretty bored watching this ngl, didn't really feel like it added anything or did much anything new from the original
20 September
fun movie, very stupid very silly. i may have never been in theater as a kid due to my crippling anxiety but i was friends with mostly theater kids for a reason: to live vicariously through them.
23 September
i tried to look past it bc i love this premise but cop/detective plot lines are just so fucking boring. shoutout brad pitt though
24 September
i see lots of people saying this is a very nostalgic halloween watch for them so i wanted to check it out. I'm sure i would've had a better time watching this when i was younger but this is still pretty fun!
24 September
i love her, i believe her, i support her. amazing camera work, great visuals, and all around fantastic film.
25 September
a really fantastic film of its time that takes notable inspiration from Frankenstein. great lighting and visuals. lugosi's performance in this is amazing + lota is an icon!
27 September
amazing movie. I'm just thinking of all the central pa birds that could kick my ass. all those sparrows? turkey vultures?? and all those pheasants thank you KNOW want revenge?? i don't even know what I'd do if my own chickens turned on me.
27 September
kinda like carnival of souls but it's visceral sexual trauma instead of blanket statement trauma. also i spent the first half crocheting which was not great bc this movie is so quiet. 2nd half? i hate every single one of these men
28 September

"i guess he's not doing too well" meta horror comedies are alive and well! also love that this was directed by tim sorry, what a legend
30 September

i feel like a lot of Halloween franchise fans don't like this one but I'm not a fan of the franchise and i enjoyed it! yes it was a little boring but so are most halloween movies to me. skipped 2 but i don't think that would be required watching for this.
30 September
michael cera plays the definition of a person you do not wanna do drugs with. he did not deserve the honor of that portrait
30 September
happy first of October!! I was obsessed with Will Smith's I Am Legend growing up so you know i had to check out the first movie adaptation of the book. can totally see where Romero pulled inspiration
01 October

i could've sworn i've seen this when i was younger but after watching i don't think i have. great sfx, fun to watch having the context of the 1950s one in mind.
01 October

what a gem! lost me a bit in the middle there but all around a good time with fun sfx and goofy humor!
02 October

i remember being much more scared of the american remake but i did watch it when i was much younger. love the sense of atmosphere that this creates. the only thing scarier than sadako is how dirty that well water is
03 October

this was actually very bad. didn't know this was a musical but it would've been better if it wasn't. they did most of the characters dirty (except for frankie, that's them to a t)
03 October
the first iteration of dracula in color! i would be more excited but I'm not really a hammer film kinda guy. dracula's death scene was cool tho
04 October
another 'teenage' horror in the books. she definitely abused his scary dog privileges one too many times
04 October
rewatch
rewatching a movie for the first time since you were a kid is funny because i mainly remember like colors and textures. like i vividly remembered her bedsheets and pajamas. anyways this was amazing i loved it so much. INTRODUCING hilary duff??? incredible.
05 October
pretty decent gore and good kills but a generic 80s slasher aside from that. loved a sam raimi + bruce campbell appearances!!
06 October
not to be confused with INVASION of the Body Snatchers. karloff never misses and is always such a good time to watch, i enjoyed this!!
07 October
been trying to watch this for awhile but home invasion movies freak me out. pretty solid overall
07 October

WE'VE GOT A ROPE! saw movies are back baby!! after the last few which really felt lackluster this has revitalized what saw movies are supposed to be like
09 October

very pretty use of color, gorgeous set design, and vincent price is amazing as always!
10 October

little baby freddy's so cute! this was definitely not my favorite of the franchise but practical effects were still fun at least
11 October

the colors! the lighting! the set design! the fashion! the colors!!! such a beautiful film <3
12 October

even though it's not my favorite franchise, when it's Friday the 13th in October you have to watch. no plot, just horny teenagers and gory kills. fun score tho! and i will say this was better than the first one.
13 October

rewatch
i had been wanting to rewatch this for months and it didn't really satisfy the itch but damn it i still love this movie. puts me in the halloween mood!
13 October
I'm sorry kieran shipka but who tf talks like that?? not the best and not the worst. a fun sunday watch.
15 October
tried watching last year and couldn't get past the first 15 minutes and truth be told i didn't want to watch it much this time around either. all i can say is this is undoubtably a rob zombie film.
16 October

rewatch
"communists huh?" "worse, tomatoes." loved this even more upon a rewatch. anthony starke and george colony really kill it as the lead duo. i find something new to laugh at every time and fuck i just love this so much!! also I'm canonically calling it, all tomato people are autistic
16 October

horror titans vincent price and boris karloff go head to head in a horror comedy directed by roger corman???? sign me up
17 October
meow meow meow meow. kinda boring but there's so much i love about this. from the score, to the acting, the way it feels like fall. solid slasher!
21 October
i know you're supposed to watch this one first but I'm stubborn and have to watch them in chronological order. that being said i totally understand why they should be viewed that way. cheesy goofy dumb fun
21 October

not my thing but has enough practical gore that i still liked it. i will try and try again but anthologies just aren't really my jam.
23 October

LOVE the score. autumn vibes are out of this world so good. 2005 remake was scarier but this has great atmosphere. hiiiiiii george 😌💗
25 October

had a lot of elements i typically enjoy but for some reason i wasn't really able to connect with this one
26 October
no thoughts, just vincent price and roger corman
27 October
first of all, MATPAT!!!!!!! second, even though i don't know any of the lore i still had such a fun time watching! loooove the practical animatronics!!
27 October

they took away the scariest thing about the original which is that you can't see the entities. that being said i did enjoy this and the continuation of young kristi and katie's story
27 October

rewatch

the first one cannot be beat but i have so many good memories attached to this
29 October

hey woah that's really fucked up!! (i loved it.) don't give into peer pressure kids! i will be thinking about this for a long time...
29 October

christina ricci slayed. really thought i would like this one but i did not
30 October
rewatch
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! took me until 40mins into the movie to realize that actually i have seen this before and it was just so mid that i forgot about it. michael really do just be standing and walking around.
31 October
rewatch
found footage legenddd. wanted to watch something scary to end the night and this didn't really scratch the itch the way it did the first time i watched it but i still love it so much
31 October
politeness is a trap! stand your ground! and also maybe call childline. YIKES, i really enjoyed this one. it's a slow build but very impactful. and the score is amazing!!
01 November

tried to watch before and i couldn't do it. glad i stuck it out but this wasn't really anything exciting to me. i liked the silver ball things tho!! very fun
02 November

family vloggers suck, those poor kids. loved the sfx for the bird/creature!
02 November
the eyster family is together once again. this just felt like a movie, but we all laughed together so that's what matters :)
05 November

all these roger corman, vincent price, edgar allen poe movies begin to blend together after awhile. this one is nothing spectacular
13 December
