Ratatouille
When I was little (maybe 6 or 7, no pun intended) I remember seeing a trailer for this on my "Cars" DVD. Of course, like any other advert on a DVD we saw at the time, we shrugged it off as another Pixar movie we wouldn't end up getting, and for the next 5 or 6 years, that stayed the same.
We watched this movie countless times on Disney+ when that came around, and I remember we absolutely loved it every time we watched it. I loved the characters, the setting, the tone, everything about it in my eye seemed perfect.
Early last year when I started my Disney DVD collection, this was the first one I got (alongside Basil the Great Mouse Detective, The Black Cauldron and WALL•E). I didn't put it in for about 5 months, and it left sat on the shelf gathering dust.
But when I was in the mood for a movie one day, I stuck Ratatouille on on Disney+. About 10 minutes in I remembered "oh, crap, I have the DVD for this. Wouldn't it be smarter if I watched it on there if I haven't used it yet?" Work smarter, not harder, people. Besides, you don't need to pay £6.99 a month to keep it.
So I watched it on the DVD. And yep, I loved it again.
When we went to Disney World in July, I discovered the ride "Remy's Ratatouille Adventure" was at the France pavillion at EPCOT. Luckily, we were able to go on it whilst it was still in 3D. We came off and we immediately said "That was amazing". We went on it a 2nd time so we could re-live it and try to go on a different route as the ride differs every time. I still absolutely love the ride, love Disney World, and I'll definitely go on it again as it was amazing.
My next watch of the film was today, when me and my brother were alone in the house on a Sunday night. Once again, I was in the mood for a movie, and Ratatouille was the choice.
This time watching it, a lot more mature than I was before, I nearly welled up with tears by how beautiful and amazingly crafted it was. Comparing this to Brad Bird's other Pixar film, The Incredibles (still a certified banger btw), I noticed similarities between the two of them. Both of them are completely different to each other, but both have a clear theme, a plot twist that changes everything, and loveable, amazing characters.
I still think this is the better between the two. If you like food and haven't seen this, change that. If you like food you'll want to eat the TV by how detailed the food is in this, and it's a must watch to anyone out there.
