**somewhat spoilers ahead?? idk not too explicit** what the fuck I wasn't expecting myself to cry all throughout the last half it's devastatingly haunting and chilling and I'd call it more of a psychological thriller than a horror because it made me so sad (and I typically get scared so easily with horror). themes of religion, discrimination and colonisation, and folklore intertwined so beautifully. I cannot fully understand the experience but from my own experience, when the religion that was said to save you doesn't, it's bound to leave you no choice. amazing performances, my personal favourite being by Wunmi Mosaku. the dance scene imo is what captured me fully through the end. I love how music was a central theme, in fact one of the lines I loved was> *Blues wasn’t put on us like that religion. We brought this with us from home.*reminded me a lot of the premise that god loves you, but not enough to save you.

broke my heart into many pieces, especially with the song at the end (not mentioning so I don't spoil). it's truly so simple yet so deep, something I truly appreciate in a world that promotes overconsumption and quantity over quality. thats sentimentality. I found it to be an ode to eldest daughters who protect, and an ode to younger daughters who thanks to that protection have the privilege to try to heal the cycle of pain. really reminded me of **a real pain**, and in a somehow v relevant way, **encanto**

had to give it 5 stars on my second watch. ABSOLUTE CINEMA. min ħexa mexa u min ma ħexiex inħexa ‼️

this movie was insane. there's something about movies about a form of tennis with an insane soundtrack. allow me to compare mr Mauser with Kendall Logan Roy: his thirst for recognition, for worship, for success, at all costs, even to the point of own humiliation. art doesn't die, it reinvents itself (or perhaps I look into things too much) the soundtrack. I felt transported. amazing soundtrack. truly tied everything together edit: fuck you if you find the honey scene funny edit 2: I forgot to mention this because so much happened since that scene but at some point I felt transported back to my bio class in 6th form xx
