Scream
Scream embodies the magic that makes movies special. Every single moment is coded in its own unique and original formula that over the years has produced a crazy amount of nostalgia and pure love of cinema for me.
The script is one of my favorites to read. The story just jumps off its pages. Wes Craven was the ultimate choice for this! The film is perfectly crafted to keep you engaged but also just excited. It’s a clap your hands, point at the screen, talk to the box type of film. And the best viewing experience is always watching it with your friends.
The characters are so effing good. Reminds me of how every member of the Mystery Gang is necessary. The scream characters somehow, even when they’re dead, are an important part of every installment after the first. The actors deserve so much credit for that! Matthew obviously is my guy! But you know, Jamie Kennedy is an all time favorite. David Archette too. Neve Campbell is my favorite final girl of all time.
I popped some popcorn mid movie. I walked back in on the scene where Ghostface’s mask reflects in the principals eye. What an iconic scene and shot! Every time a character screams is so classic. Every bit of screen time with Ghostface is iconic. Every joke lands. And every line is quotable. I’m telling you, this is a perfect film!
RIP Wes.
I’m stoked that the next Scream is going to be written by its original writer, Kevin Williamson. He also wrote Scream 2, which is arguably one of my favorite sequels!
