Barbie
It took me a long time to actually write this review but honestly this is one of my favorite Barbie movies ever if not my absolute favorite. It is my favorite mainly because I deeply resonated with it and the film is a mix of many emotions ideas and thoughts. It ranges from pure nostalgia to fully advocating for women’s struggles while still being a fun movie with a message beyond that.
The scene that struck me the most is when Barbie begins to question her appearance something everyone admired her for which made me realize that no matter how perfect someone may seem you never truly know their struggles. Barbie’s looks are her strong suit yet she doubted them. That made me reflect on our society because when a girl who is exceptionally pretty starts to dislike her looks or feels insecure people often bash her because “she’s pretty and perfect” without ever recognizing the internal battles girls face. Words alone cannot change how we view ourselves.
This movie also showed that girlhood and womanhood have never been easy and that even our smallest accomplishments mean something. It healed my inner child and made me appreciate every woman who has been part of my life and helped shape my identity. We truly are amazing beings and we should always stand up for one another. Overall it made me reflect and look at my life from a different perspective.
(The movie’s songs are peak too omg)
