Django Unchained
"I'm that one in ten thousand."
Django Unchained is basically 165 minutes of straight up badass. As usual with Tarantino, the dialogue, the storyline, and the screenplay are all great. Plus incredible performances from Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, and DiCaprio bring everything to a whole new level. Foxx was good too.
I was initially skeptical because of the runtime. I thought: "What are they going to do for 2 hours and 45 minutes?" And I must say that it does get better from the ≈40 minute mark. However, the whole movie is very interesting and managed to keep my curiosity from start to finish. As well as my attention 😏
I think the main message is that Django's "three dimples" in his skull are not associated with that of submissiveness, but maybe bravery and disobedience as he says "I'm that one in ten thousand." In my interpretation, Django is a symbol of freedom. As well as the film shows the cruelty and terror of slavery.
