WandaVision
📺Last time watching WandaVision before Agatha All Along comes out. I’ve been obsessed with this series since 2021 and rewatched it lots of times and now we are finally getting a sequel series in 2 days. Only 1 out of the 3 projects is out now, but i already know WandaVision, Agatha All Along and Vision Quest will be the best Marvel trilogy.
📺What do you know about WandaVision? A lot of straight white men marvel fans actually enjoyed this series (which is quite surprising), but they didn’t like it for the masterpiece of a storyline that it has, but for the fact it kept them guessing that Mephisto or the X-men will appear every episode.
📺Why I like WandaVision you might ask? This is by far the best and most unique project Marvel has ever put out. This is the first time we get to give characters real depth and personality and we get to see it not just be told. When Wanda loses Vision in Infinity War we were told how much they were in love and it was a heartbreaking scene, but here we get to actually SEE their love. We get to witness their simple life and family dinners and outings in the park. That’s why when she loses Vision again at the end of the series it’s ten times more heartbreaking. Also, as a HUGE fan of the evolution of cinema this was made for me. A lot of the typical marvel fans hate the first couple of episodes for being too “boring and meaningless”, while they are some of my favorites. Seeing two of my favorite characters go through all these decades of cinema with adapted screenplay, costumes, decor, visual effects, acting etc is one of the things that made this as amazing as it is.
📺Yes, the mystery of not knowing what’s actually happening is also a key part of the watching experience, but when i first saw it i saw spoilers so i knew everything from why she created the hex to Agatha’s reveal, but I still enjoyed it A LOT. Also, every single detail of this is an easter egg or a reference to a period sitcom and that’s amazing. I love the theory (as depressing as it is) that the reason she kept changing decades was cuz she knew her spell won’t last long so she wanted to “live a full life with Vision”. Also, this series doesn’t feel like an extended movie (like most marvel shows do). Given the difference decade of each episode this was ment to be a series and not a film. Matt Shakman did a fantastic job directing this and Fantastic Four is actually my highest anticipated marvel movie BECAUSE it will be directed by him.
📺Men can hate Wanda all they want, but she’s one of the if not the best written marvel character (or at least up until MoM). I started crying during the intro to episode 5, seeing Wanda spending time with her kids, knowing they’ll die by the end of the show. Wanda lost everything she ever loved throughout her whole life. Ever since she was 10 and that bomb hit she had not one day of peace. The happiest she has ever been was during episode one of this show, which is even more heartbreaking when you realize it was all an illusion. The citizens of Westview felt her pain for 6 days and wanted to die rather then continue living like this. She had what she wanted for a couple of days having a lovely family only to lose them all again. There’s even a cut scene in the script where Wanda saw White Vision as she left Westview in the final episode and they looked at each other as they flew off in different directions and didn’t see their other half anymore. Cuz White Vision is not the same person Wanda grew her kids with, and to him Wanda is merely a memory he recovered but not lived. I just know Vision Quest will be heartbreaking.
📺WANDA WAS NOT A VILLAIN IN THIS SERIES, SHE WAS A VICTIM. Did she torture a whole town for a week? Yes… But at the beginning it wasn’t she who did it, her grief and pain literally exploded and she was doing this unconsciously. When she found out she was in control she could have stopped, but she finally had a happy life and she wasn’t ready to give it all up. And in the end she did the right thing, the hero thing, and gave up her family to let these people be free. SHE SACRIFICED HER HUSBAND AND KIDS FOR THEM AND THEY STILL HATED HER AS SHE WALKED OUT OF TOWN.
📺Was her villain ark incredibly rushed in MoM? Yes, but she had every right to become a villain. Also, some of you need to understand she didn’t open the darkhold to find her kids. “It makes no sense, she realized her mistakes and made the sacrifice only to read tge darkhold right after”. Because she didn’t read the darkhold for herself. She did it to learn to control her powers so that there won’t be a future incident like Westview. The darkhold possessed her and showed her how she can have all she ever wanted and she fell for it. She is the most powerful being in the multiverse, but she specifically said that even tho she was meant to rule everything she doesn’t want that, she just wants her children back. I can’t imagine how Monica felt after finding out of all the crimes and mass murder Wanda committed to get what she wanted. And it’s absolutely gut wrenching to see the final scene with her kids at the end of Multiverse of Madness. After all she did to get back to her kids, they hated her for the monster she’s become. I’ll always see Wanda’s “death” as a suicide and not a sacrifice. Yes, by killing herself she saved the world from its biggest danger, but she genuinely wanted to die at that point. She lost everything and she knew she had no way of getting her family back so she was happy to die. That’s why i’ll feel bad for her is she comes back (as much as i would love her to come back AND SHE WILL!), because she literally wished she was dead.
📺Can’t believe after what feels like days but also years we get the sequel to WandaVision. I know it only came out 3.5 years ago, but i’ve seen it SO MANY TIMES it feels like i knew this series since forever. Beyond excited for Agatha All Along, all the trailers look amazing. It’s not going to be in the same style, but it will be very spooky with references to a lot of horror classics. Also, just like WandaVision, Agatha All Along looks like it’s not just a really long movie they had to split into episodes. With each episode being a trial from the Witches’ Road, it makes total sense for this to be a show. And i’m not sure if “The Ballad Of The Witches’ Road” will be as iconic as “Agatha All Along” was during the pandemic, but it’s an amazing song and i can’t wait for the whole world to listen to it once the series comes out.
