Cure

Definitely a slow burn psychological thriller so be prepared for that. Went in thinking this was a movie about a killer who hypnotized his victims first before having them do despicable acts but Kurosawa does something even better. Rather than doing some traditional hypnosis like you would expect to see, he has the killer talk in circles, light and cigarette, drop some water, not answer questions, ask the victims to "tell me about yourself", making him repeat phrases, and have him ask his victims "who are you?". To me it makes the movie very unnerving and uncomfortable and leaves a lot of questions at the end. I may have a new top 10 film enter the rankings, highly recommended it.
