Phantom Thread

my first watch of 2024 did not disappoint! this is such a refreshing twist on the “tortured male genius who centers his entire life around his work and how that affects his relationship with his muse” tale that’s been told so many times before. pta directs the hell out of this and the score is absolutely stunning. ddl is of course excellent but vicky krieps really steals this film for me. it sucks that she got ignored during that award season. lesley manville is great as well. i’ve been meaning to get around to this one for a while now and i think it’s a perfect new year’s watch.
