Panic Room
what a tight film. fincher is just flexing his directing muscles with every shot. of course its great to see actors and directors freestyling along the way - hell i just watched captain phillips and can really appreciate how the most memorable line: “look at me, i am the captain now” was completely improvised - but it’s so refreshing to see something so entirely meticulous and well designed. intention oozes from every choice and it’s just so much fun to watch. like the insert shot of the bedside fridge in the beginning seems out of place until the climax of the film when meg rushes back there to grab the insulin. it’s just so good and the more you think about it all, the more you love it and that’s an incredibly powerful thing to do.
further cements fincher as my favorite director, can’t believe it took me so long to watch this.
