The Batman

❓100% I finally found the time to give this the proper rewatch that it deserves, and let me say that it was therapeutic. This is one of the most beautifully shot films I’ve ever seen; it’s an absolute shame it didn’t get the Oscar nod. Pattinson is truly great here as Batman, fully encapsulating The World’s Greatest Detective persona I’ve been so desperately craving from a Batman film. Jeffrey Wright’s Gordon is a standout (continuing the great work of Gordon’s past), and his chemistry with Pattinson’s Batman make for some of the most interesting scenes in the movie. Zoe Kravitz is another standout, and I really liked what they did with her backstory. The Riddler is obviously adapted differently than he has been in the past, but I feel like it was a good choice to update his character to reflect our current society. I thoroughly enjoy Dano’s performance as well, though I can see why some might take issue with the over-the-top-ness. I didn’t even discuss the narrative itself yet, but it’s flawless. **All 2023 Viewings List Batman Ranked**
