This is serious masterwork
A phenomenal deconstruction of stan culture while also being SRK's ballsy-est venture, one where he presents himself as an open book, recognizing his privilege, ego, addressing and acknowledging that his time as a star is over (its sadly poetic how this film also bombed at the box office).
From a technical perspective too, this is one of Bollywood's finest outputs, i could go on and on about the brilliant prosthetics and CGI but I'll just talk about how sound is used to tell a story in this very small scene in the first act. When Gaurav sees Aaryan on his birthday, when he first yells amongst the crowd, his sound echoes and is louder than everyone- because from Gaurav's perspective HE is the true fan and is the only voice that matters. But as the crowd pushes and Gaurav notices what's going on, his voice dwindles, it becomes just another shout in the thousands of screaming fans. It's very basic but it's very effective and really puts you in Gaurav's shoes.
Two shots I'd like to talk about too, the first being at the "Aaryan Khanna Unloaded" show. Aaryan stands in front of giant LED screens projecting his face, a larger than life idol, but infront of him, where there were supposed to be thousands of people seated, there is noone. Aaryan stands and stares at the empty seats as the camera zooms out....is shah rukh khan the superstar he thought he was? The second shot I'd like to talk about is when Gaurav goes to Aaryan's house at the end. He stands next to a framed photo of Aaryan and the camera keeps the shot still for a couple of seconds just so the audience can once again see the startling similarities between both, except one is immortalized through photo and one is a crazed stalker waving around a gun, just when this realisation settles in the viewer- CRASH! Gaurav smashes the glass photo frame.
