Titanic
This movie is pure cinema, and I will fortunately have a big ass yap session now.
*Why this movie is perfect.
*“Titanic” released in 1997, directed & written by James Cameron was the highest-grossing movie ever at the time, why? James Cameron is such a good director that only takes on projects he’s passionate about, (evidence of this is Avatar) that he wanted to make almost everything practically, in order to get the best results possible. The ship snapping in half was all practical effects, and some scenes were filmed in 70fps (?!), for perspective, a normal films composition consists of 24 frames per second…
The thing that makes this film feel so authentic is that they make the world around the main characters feel so alive, all down to the casting and most importantly - the clothing.
The movie is basically split into three parts.
• The Intro (First 20 minutes)
• Jack & Rose Relationship (1h 40m)
• The Sinking (The Remaining Time)
Why all these three parts are so important is what I am going to tell you right now.
The intro lets the audience know why they’re telling the story, and it gives us another perspective on how we view story as we know Rose is surviving, to tell the tale. It gives us the feeling that it is still modern time, but a story about her memories.
Jack & Rose relationship segment could basically be considered a whole romance movie itself as it has all the elements of one, such as its three acts with a beginning and end. Without this segment in the movie we would have no one to follow throughout the last segment that we would have sympathy for and actually hope that the characters in specific survive. It takes its time to establish the characters, relationships and the problems they're facing.
And lastly, the last segment of the movie, the sinking. This segment could also be considered a movie in itself as it basically has three arcs and other elements a movie needs. This segment uses Jack & Roses relationship part of to create emotion and intensity throughout this part.
The characters we’ve gotten attached to because of previous events makes this last part so great.
The music in this film is beautiful and makes emotion, the music is it’s own character, how the music changes based on the setting, whether it’s class one or class three, it’s amazing.
Titanic had the biggest movie set at the time of its release and was also the most successful movie at the time, and won 11 Oscar’s.
All these factors is why Titanic is the best movie made, and it’ll be hard to make a better movie than it.
