Sinners
BFI. fuckin. IMAX
this is art in its purest form. every frame and mere noise from this film deserves its own dedicated museum to immortalise this masterpiece forever - it is a complete movie using every possible tool a filmmaker could utilise and going far beyond what is thought possible to create a genuine work of art.
the narrative crafts such a rich representation of black history and culture and completely immerses me in a 30s america using incredible set and costume design. both representations of the vampires and smoke/stack and co. are an expert example of top class character writing - allowing the audience to sympathise with said blood-sucking vampires. the dialogue, action, staging, is all utterly mesmerising and captivating - but what never fails to just absolutely astonish me upon every single watch is the cinematography and the music that is so unbelievably unique and beautiful. i have not a single fucking doubt in my mind that this will win best cinematography and best original score because this is the genuine stuff of legend, never have i witnessed and heard such perfection from any sort of media until sinners. every frame is incredible, and every cue from the score is an unrelenting eargasm with incredible and distinct leitmotifs for each character which pair so well with the visuals.
imax is an absolute treat. get straight to the bfi as soon as there is another rerelease to experience this masterpiece.
