Happiness
I don't think I have ever experienced a film this perfect before.
I was at my friend's house and I brought over some DVDs and she picked this one. I was like, "okay, let's do it!" To be perfectly honest, I bought Happiness solely on the cover art for it. I knew nothing about it at all. And ooooooh boy. This movie blew me the fuck away. It's runtime was more than two hours long, but I wish it was longer because I didn't want it to end. It was just so fucking great.
I loved there were these storylines that all intertwined and came together. It's probably one of my favorite ways of storytelling. The plot, the fucking acting, the script, just everything about this was absolutely flawless to me. By the way, the scene when Allen and Kristina are in the diner and she tells him what Pedro did to her and what she did to Pedro while eating a strawberry ice cream and saying, "it was a crime of passion. I'm a passionate woman" will probably be one of my favorite scenes from any film ever. It was so fucking great.
I finished watching this about a half hour ago. As I was driving home, Happiness is all I could think about. I'm probably going to be still thinking about it for the rest of week/month.
A quote from my friend during the last scene where most of the cast is sitting at the dinner table: "Listen, I know I'm Joy but I want to be Helen so fucking bad."
