The Lighthouse is a psychologically jarring masterpiece. The eventual downfall of two men, done stylistically and blended with a supernatural horror aspect. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe both play 1890 sailors to a tee and with some weird dialogue create engaging scenes. Still not sure if I understand everything about this film as Pattinson’s descent into madness is connected with some very surreal imagery, but it adds to the creepy and tense atmosphere. The use of black and white was genius and the use of its 1:19:1 aspect ratio helps capture this isolated setting. So fucked up and so much fun.
