Love, Simon
I will never not love this film.
I honestly love Simon even with some of his bad choices but don't we all make mistakes at that age especially when something so private to you is being threatened, I'd have done the same.
I hate what he's put through and relate to his troubles of coming out.
I enjoy the comedy which gives me a chance to stop crying at everything else, especially the friends coming out as straight which makes a valid point but is funny to watch. The two parents discussions with Simon get me every time and again are relatable for me.
I love how when watching the first time you are kept guessing as to who Blue is and even when rewatching and knowing who it is that takes absolutely nothing away from the film.
Now I've seen mixed views of the film from the LGBT+ community but that's to be expected as we all go through different experiences and can't all relate to the film the same way but for me it feels like the most relatable film I've ever watched and it is why it is not only my favourite 2018 film but my second favourite film ever (sorry but nothing will beat Forrest Gump).
I love the whole cast for bringing us these characters to life especially Nick Robinson as Simon but all of the actors who played his friends and family were superb, even Logan Miller who everyone will hate but he played it well enough for me to love to hate him.
We all want love and acceptance and movies like this provide hope and are needed in a world where that doesn't always seem possible especially for young people. Reading a few reviews on letterboxd of people stating they came out watching this film just shows how powerful it is for some of us.
Watching it this third time inspired me to just post out on FaceBook that I'm gay, my parents, sister and a majority of my friends knew but doing that lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.
I also really enjoy the songs used in the film and Troye Sivan can never do wrong, providing the song Strawberries & Cigarettes.
I also recommend that those who enjoyed the film to read the book, Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda.
