luca you did it again. undoubtedly some of my favorite shots in cinema. masterful demonstration of framing and focus as techniques to gently guide your attention and create distance between characters not only from one another but from the audience.  absolutely diabolical needle drops that blew me away. stand out performances that immerse you so deeply into the characters' psyche.  I paused this film around the halfway point to not only to absorb what i'd already seen but also to postpone finishing what I knew would be a masterpiece I would wish I could experience for the first time again.  leaves nothing to be desired while simultaneously fostering the deepest sense of yearning. unsurprised that this was adapted from material written by the author of naked lunch, it has very similar themes and atmosphere. both stories compelled me on screen and I look forward to exploring them from the page.
