Challengers
My first cinema watch of the year 🥳 and it was amazing.
The latest film of Luca Guadagnino is nothing like his last films, but in a good way. It's far more upbeat than Bones and All or Suspiria, but it still has his clear characteristic direction in the best way possible.
The three protagonists have some of the best chemistry I've ever seen in a movie, and I still don't understand how a movie about a romantic triangle of tennis players is the sexiest and most sexually tense movie I've ever seen. SERIOUSLY. Not only the threet of them are hot as fuck, they make EVERY scene hot, and yes, even the tennis matches.
Besides, my second favourite performance of Zendaya ever (the first would go to her performance in Euphora as Rue).
This feels like a movie I'll rewatch as soon as I can when it gets to Prime Video (I'm thinking that maybe I'll even go watch it to the cinema again), because it's honestly so invigorating, captivating and it understands how to play with every nerve in your body in a good way.
Luca Guadagnino has safely earned his place as my favourite director ever.
