Interstellar
So glad I was able to find an IMAX theater to see this again!! Had to drive two hours but I'd do it again. Everyone with me didn't like how loud it was, and admittedly some dialogue was harder to hear which can be a problem with Nolan films. BUT I DON'T CARE I LOVED FEELING MY SEAT SHAKE. And Hans Zimmer you magical bastard, I would sit three rows away from the screen anytime for you.
I know I am nowhere near the first on this app to admire this film, but there is a reason. Many reasons. I love how it balances scope with scale. Life on the farm, a dire stakes adventure in the stars. Almost three hours and you feel the years missed. You are Cooper. You are on the mission. And you love your friends and family a little more every minute he's not there with Murph.
Interstellar isn't the most nuanced and complicated movie you'll ever see, despite some thinking it is. It's simple, even the ending. As space and time grow larger, the moments are smaller, heartfelt, familiar. It's one of my favorites of all time. I liken it to riding my bike as a kid, hearing a train coming. I'd tell myself that if I didn't beat the train to my house I would die.
So much fun. So memorable. Blissfully human.
