Nope
even better on rewatch, Nope is truly one of a kind. The parallels of Gordy & Jeanjacket are incredible, particularly it ending the same way it began w/ a popping balloon… literally haunting. The scenes of Gordy’s Home and Jeanjacket’s Sky Lasso Experience were truly terrifying and had my heart racing even though I’ve seen this movie before. I also love that it doesn’t need to be graphic to be effective in its disturbing and horror elements. The use of western themes is also great and makes for an exciting climax. The sound design and Jean Jacket moving through the clouds in the night are absolute perfection, worthy of some sort of Oscar. OJ & Emerald’s relationship is so wholesome and interesting to see. Ricky’s character is so fascinating in what little screen time he has. The scene of Antlers and the crew before they try and capture Jeanjacket on film is such a great homage to Jaws and I loved it and how it added to the eeriness. This film is such a treat to watch and is like an Easter egg hunt for details. Can’t wait for my next rewatch!
