Avengers: Endgame
i’m giving avengers: endgame 4.5 stars. it’s 2024, and after everything we’ve seen in the mcu since, this still stands as the ultimate 'main character' moment for the entire franchise. it’s a massive three-hour flex that actually manages to stick a landing ten years in the making.
robert downey jr. is absolute peak as tony stark—his performance is the emotional soul of the whole thing, and that final 'i am iron man' line still hits like a freight train. chris evans as cap finally getting his dance is the most wholesome closure we could've asked for. the way the russo brothers wove together 22 movies' worth of lore into a heist-style time travel plot is a total masterclass in fan service that actually works.
the final hour is pure adrenaline. seeing cap lift mjolnir and then the entire mcu army portal in to face thanos is probably the greatest superhero brawl ever put on film. it’s epic, loud, and visually stunning.
the only reason it’s not a perfect 5 is because time travel rules in this can be a bit of a mess if you think about them for more than five minutes. some of the pacing in the middle drags while they’re just 'hanging out' in different timelines, and a few characters like captain marvel feel a bit like they were just dropped in for the sake of it.
overall, it’s a majestic, generation-defining event. it’s a satisfying, heartbreaking, and glorious finale that marvel might never be able to top. with the re-release hitting theaters in september 2026, i’m definitely sitting through all three hours again for the vibes alone
