Suspiria

I think that the only things that are a remake of the original are the title and (loosely) the premise. The remake keeps and often amplifies the previously established disturbing imagery from the original. The practical effects were astounding in both films but particularly shined through in the remake. The film was very different plot wise but still took place in the original time period of the original film. The bright colour grading was switched to a darker and more dreary atmosphere which reflects the disturbing tone of the film. The score is once again great and the cinematography mirrors the style of the original with quick, unbroken 70’s esque zooms. Fifty shades of grey actress Dakota Johnson gave a good performance of Suzy Bannion. The film even included a cameo from Jessica Harper (who played the original Suzy Bannion) as a new character named Anke Meier. I think both of these films are great works of film and the original is one of my all time favourites.
