Anora
Don't know what I even expected of this film but it definitely wasn't this.
Honestly the ending of this film is what saved it for me. Before the whole ending scenes with Igor and Anora this movie just felt kinda empty? Don't get me wrong the movie had been really good before that too. Like it definitely wasn't bad but it felt kinda shallow and like it lacked meaning and that deeper message I had heard people talking about.
I spent the whole film waiting for the moment it would become meaningful and the ending was what really did it for me. Specifically the last last scene in the car. I genuinely held my breath because I was lowkey stressed the movie would just end in them fucking but thankfully it didn't. The last seconds just made the whole film and showed the actual depth of it.
This was so well made too. The acting was amazing, I loved the atmosphere, mixing of genres and the social commentary. It was really cool how they mixed elements of drama and comedy together to create this unique mix. All the film nerd technical aspects I couldn't care less about were really well executed too. Overall this film was great and I can definitely see why it's so widely liked.
I don't know if I can still give this five stars though. Maybe if I ever rewatch it, but for now I feel like I can't. Most of the movie, despite being really good and funny just felt kinda bland and shallow. And while the ending was amazing I feel I'm still leaning more towards four, maybe four and a half stars rather than the whole five.
Can't stress enough how much I liked the ending though. It's so depressing yet makes the whole film, ending it so perfectly after all the chaos.
