Rumble Fish
heart was in my throat while watching this entire thing, matt dillon love of my life. he is so beautiful i love him so much. one of his best looks of all time. the leather jacket the white tank the single earring the bandana i love everything
the fighting fish are like a metaphor for their lives in fighting and crime and i love that reference. i also like the contrast in the characters and the way they interacted was an interesting dynamic, with motorcycle boy being more soft spoken and rusty james being louder.
haven't seen such beautiful cinematography in a long time and i loved this so much, im obsessed with everything about this. i like the sounds and how some of them seemed closer, and the close attention to detail like the clock ticking, water droplets, music, and whispers.
"What does it all look like to you?""Black and white TV with the sound turned low."
the colour blind thing ties in so well with this, the vibrance of the fish was a really nice touch.
this film made me really really really sad because of the way younger siblings look up to their elder siblings and me being the oldest it made me feel something. the fear angst and stress of it all drives me crazy.
literally this is so emotional because all he ever wanted was to be like motorcycle boy. and your older sibling is also someone you always thought you knew but you don't. this broke my heart because it's true. reading the ending online broke my heart even more because that ending was so beautiful and so reflective of everything that had amounted to it.
i loved every single moment and it had everything, like action, love, loss, family, masculinity and ultimately brotherhood. there hardly are movies that encompass so many genres but this covers most of it for me.
