Normal People
Watching this just feels so... real.
I probably shouldve listened to everyone who said, "Dont watch this if youre lonely," because they were absolutely right.
Theres something incredibly human about this series. the conversations, the silence, the awkward moments, the misunderstandings. It all feels so intimate that it almost becomes uncomfortable to watch at times. it never feels like youre watching characters written for a tv show, but actual people trying to navigate life and love.
Its honestly incredible how much detail they put into something as simple as the characters eyes. so much emotion is communicated without a single word being spoken.
I loved how much both marianne and connell changed throughout the story, even if they changed in completely different ways. marianne slowly grows into herself, while connell almost feels like he becomes even more withdrawn. His anxiety, the guilt over his friends death, and his fear of getting too attached because he thinks hell only hurt the people he loves make him one of the most believable characters.
They just cant let go of each other. Maybe its because they see the world in such a similar way. Whatever the reason, they share one of the most complex and authentic relationships Ive seen on screen.
The whole series hits differently than almost anything else Ive watched, and I honestly think the ending was beautiful. Not because everything was perfect, but because it felt true to who they had become.
