Django Unchained
*Django Unchained
*
My second Quentin Tarantino film.
I bought the DVD for this film yesterday and decided to watch it. Recently, I’ve been collecting DVDs as a hobby, and I’m loving it. I’m glad this was one of my first ones.
Django Unchained has an interesting story, and for what it is, it’s amazing. Django is such a fantastic character, and seeing him rise to the top was so compelling. Christoph Waltz was perfectly suited for his role in this film, and I loved their chemistry. Leonardo DiCaprio was phenomenal. In my opinion, though, I feel like he should’ve been a little more intimidating. Sometimes I couldn’t fully see him as a villain, more like a maniac. Overall, the acting is amazing, and the casting fits the film so well.
The pacing is great, with interesting dialogue and tense scenes that make the movie fly by. The atmosphere is great at building tension, especially in Candyland. The cinematography was phenomenal; every shot felt perfectly crafted. All of these technical aspects really fit the film.
The action in this film is a mixture of serious and goofy at times. I understood what Quentin was trying to do, and I actually enjoyed it. The sound effects were 100% his decision — you can tell. The purpose of this film is also really good, and I started to truly love it when they killed the three brothers. The soundtrack wasn’t the best in my opinion, but it wasn’t bad or terrible either. Sometimes it just didn’t fit certain scenes, though the music was still really good overall.Overall, Django Unchained was such an incredible and enjoyable film, and I would consider it a *masterpiece *FOR what it is . I would definitely recommend this film if you love western films.
