Alien

Depending on the day if you’d of ask me what film I’d wanna see in IMAX I’d probably say this! Could be easily been a B movie but wrapped up in prestige and I absolutely adore this film. A double bill of both Alien & Aliens in imax is just special! I’ve been trying for years to get my girlfriend to go watch it with me but this time had to put my foot down on this opportunity, just can’t think of much better to do on a Wednesday evening and THE SOUND DESIGN MY WORD!!! In aliens it’s great too but in alien it’s just unbelievable, the sound of the pulse rifles and ship, my life is complete! I’ve said a lot about this film recently anyway & my girlfriend just saw both for the first time last night so this is just her thoughts lol. It was slower than the second one but I did enjoy it I think. I did struggle with Ripley not being like the lead up front as it’s more of an ensemble cast so didn’t know who to route for or who was the lead until Ripley wants to do the quarantine stuff and that’s when I think I started to enjoy it more when she became the main character but where’s in the second one we watched it’s more of a hero’s journey from the get go. I didn’t know about the big alien so that was a surprise, all i knew was there was a little one that pops out the chest thingy, it’s overbuilt as a horror I think, it’s horror inflicted cause I was expecting to be scared the shit out of so I was expecting a lot of the wrong things to happen like I thought the alien was in the cat and she’s gonna bring it onto your spaceship then it’s gonna burst out but I was completely wrong there, some of the lift doors closing got me and doors slamming but I didn’t find it that creepy. Bravo
