Before I Fall
I got the Blu-ray DVD version of this movie, and you know I had to watch it. This movie is so good. It’s my favorite movie of all time. I have a poster, the DVDs, the book, I have everything. All I need now is the tattoo. That’s how much I love this movie. Since I had the DVD, I had to rewatch it. A good thing is that my dad was watching it with me, so we were both watching and picking up on details. I really love how deep the movie goes. One thing about it is that if you love this movie, you really understand that your actions have consequences. One scene I love is when her sister asked her, “Why do you not like mom”? and she replied, “I don’t know.” They were arguing, and she took lipstick and drew a line across the bed. She said that was the line, and her mom should not cross it. She didn’t think her mom would actually respect it, but she did. That moment gave me life. It showed strength and love. It reminded me that everything we say and do can have consequences. You never know how something you say might affect someone. One little thing can change everything for them, and I really love how the movie shows that. Rewatching it again just reminded me how perfect it is. It feels like this movie was made for me. The tone, the setting, the pacing….everything speaks to me. It is about a girl who seemed like she had everything, but she did not really enjoy life. Her friends were more carefree, but she carried this heaviness. She built a wall around herself and never took time to appreciate what she had. That is why I love the scenes with her and Lindsay. Lindsay had changed too. She used to be friends with that one girl, but when she betrayed her, you could tell she was never the same. It was similar to how Sam betrayed her childhood friend. They both had those moments. It was quiet, but you could feel the weight. Sam did not want to be like Lindsay. She felt bad. You could see it. That’s what I loved. The way the story showed those connections, even the little things like switching best friends I loved that. It showed how people change, how they grow, and how their choices matter. And Zoey? She is Sam. I was watching trailers and behind-the-scenes stuff, and I saw a trailer with the book cover and a different actress playing Sam. She did not look like Sam at all. Zoey looks exactly like Sam. She captured her so well. The emotion, the way she acted, it felt real. She made the movie what it is. This movie is part of who I am now. Not in a bad way, but it really shaped how I see life. It reminds me that sometimes you only get today. Every detail, every scene, everything about it just made sense to me. It felt personal. Watching it again was amazing. I really can’t believe this movie even exists. It is everything I needed.
